LIVE, WORK, SHOP AND PLAY ALL IN ONE SECURE VILLAGE

Just north-east of Somerset West, about 1km down on the right hand side of Sir Lowry’s Pass Road, is the site of what was the 200 year old historical farm, “Die Bos”. For the last 10 years this area has been in the process of being transformed into “Heritage Park” by the Somerset West Business Trust, with the intention of creating a secure, self-contained village where one can work, shop and spend leisure time in safety.

They have used the best of nature – the trees, streams and natural vegetation, and have developed the suburbs to blend in and complement these features.

An incredible 24% of the area will be left as open space, and with the backdrop of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, Heritage Park has become a very desirable address.

There are very few projects in Somerset West catering for an entire community, as far as property development is concerned. Since the inception in 1997 of the Commercial Section, Somerset West Business Park, numerous businesses have been set up, and are flourishing, at an estimated cost of R300 million, giving employment for around 3000 people. The development’s residential section was launched in 2002, and since then approximately 700 new homes have been built for an estimated value of R500 million.

Heritage Park is divided into various suburbs, each with its own charm and appeal. Each suburb has it’s own park and in addition, an area of 10 hectares has been provided for the creation of a central park, for the enjoyment of all residents.

In addition, the International School has been established, catering for pre-primary to Grade 6, and able to accommodate up to 350 children. The New Baptist Church, Mountain View, has also now been completed and is open to the community. The New Generation Church is still in the process of being built, but once completed will also be available to any who wish to attend.

Millions have been invested in this development; it has created fantastic employment opportunities and boosted local businesses involved in all sectors of the building trade. The municipality has also received large contributions for improvements to the water supplies, sewerage system and electricity supply, from the bulk services levies which have had to be paid, and now, in addition, they will receive additional rates and taxes from all the new developments in our town.

By the time Heritage Park is completed, we estimate that it will boast over 2000 homes, with schools, churches and parks, and a thriving commercial and industrial park, all in one secure town.
